Reading the Chip-Based Citizen ID Card

The chip-based citizen ID card is a technology expected to strongly drive digital transformation. One notable application is user authentication with facial biometrics. The ID card stores a high-resolution template photo, which can be fully used as the reference image for face authentication.

Above is a video of us reading information from the ID card, including the face and other details. Combined with face recognition using Deep Learning, this opens up many useful applications, such as eKYC for banks and cashless hospital visits.
